New York Times Feature

I’m so excited to share that we kicked off the new year with some exciting news—We Met IRL was featured in The New York Times! Gina Cherelus, columnist for the NYT’s Third Wheel column, reached out to me for my thoughts on what dating will look like in 2025. And of course, I had a lot to say!

As the founder of We Met IRL, I’ve spent years bringing singles together in real-life settings, creating spaces where people can connect authentically beyond the apps. That’s why my 2025 dating prediction is all about the power of community—leaning into real-world social networks, mutual friends, and in-person connections to find love.

Here’s my quote from the article

I basically see a resurgence of blind dates, setups, and real-life vetting before first dates. With so much uncertainty in the world, singles are seeking stability and deeper relationships, and they’re looking to their friends and community to help them get there.

It was incredible to be quoted alongside industry experts, including TikTok-famous dating coach Anwar White, who shared his own prediction about the financial landscape of dating. He noted that rising inflation may shift dating culture away from formal dates and toward a more casual, hookup-driven scene. While that may be true for some, I believe singles are still craving meaningful, in-person experiences that create lasting connections—something we specialize in at We Met IRL.

Being recognized by The New York Times is a huge milestone, not just for me, but for the entire We Met IRL community. It validates everything we’ve been building—IRL events that bring people together in fun, engaging ways without the pressure of swiping endlessly on dating apps. If you’re looking to meet new people and experience the future of dating firsthand, check out one of our upcoming events!

Let’s make 2025 the year of real-life romance.
